Kidney tables were particularly polar in the fifties, and in contrast to these rather free forms, Max Bill's 'three-round table', created around 1949/50, seems almost taut and precise. The construction of three circles determines its geometrical figure.
A form that is simply unique and I like it very much. It blends in very well with any interior and looks really good in a living room or even in a larger kitchen. It is also very suitable for the home office. Who says that you can only work at square tables? There you go!
The 'three-round table' marks a high point in Max Bill's campaign for design reform: the formula 'beauty from function and as function' from his legendary lecture became the key thesis. He broke the rigid concept of functionalism by placing the forms of everyday objects in a larger context with those of nature and art and confronting serial everyday objects with handcrafted and technical objects.
