'Morpheme' explores artist Jana Jonhardsdóttir's abstract compositions through a complex labyrinth of simple organic structures.
Inspired by the work of biologist Lindenmayer and his system for identifying organic structures, she translates this combination of simple and complex in nature to create a work that speaks of a higher spiritual connection.
The way the tides move, the way organisms connect and multiply, or even the vastness of space - all are addressed in this detailed composition.
Incidentally, Jana lives in the Faroe Islands, and she focuses primarily on a monochromatic color palette in her expressionistic works, as well as her current surroundings, which are surrounded by the inspiring North Atlantic Ocean.
