The Ulm Stool was designed in 1955 by Max Bill, the first director of the Ulm School of Design, in collaboration with Hans Gugelot and Paul Hildinger for the students of the School of Design.
'Two vertical boards and a horizontal one, - the three firmly interlocked and finally held together by a round wooden rod at the bottom', is how a contemporary described the construction principle of the stool. In this way it was intended to serve as a seat, side table, shelf and even as a means of carrying the books needed for study.
That's what it still does today, the versatile stool in beautiful light spruce wood, which is a great contrast to my shiny white sideboard and the metal bookcase and which I can easily place wherever I like and need it.
