This bar stool is refined, practical and quite sharp in terms of design, if I may say so.
The stackable cantilever stool - the seat cantilevers freely into the air on one side - found its origin in an impression that the young Dutch designer received while observing fishermen. These fishermen were busy picking up garbage from the sea, and then he came up with the idea of using a recycled raw material for his design: Cork. In cooperation with a Belgian social institution, which shredded the old corks and pressed them together anew, the characteristic seat of the stool was created. By the way, 150 wine corks are needed for one seat.
The idea of hovering, which had already found a trailer in the Bauhaus, was also pursued by Joop Couwenberg and resulted in the filigree tubular steel frame.
