The classic: S33 cantilever chair by 'Thonet'

Today we reach deep into the design box and present you the first cantilever chair in furniture history! It was designed by the German architect Mart Stamm in 1927. He was one of the pioneers of modern furniture design - and lived his last years in the beautiful gold roof. Today the company 'Thonet' produces this classic for you - the traditional house that once invented the bending of solid wood.

From 1925, Mart Stam experimented with gas line pipes, which he connected to flanges, and developed the principle of unsupported chairs that no longer rested on four legs. This created a construction principle whose formal restraint became an important building block in the history of modern furniture design.

At the beginning, Stam was not interested in the springy effect of the bent steel tube, but in the clear form, which fitted perfectly into the modern buildings of that time. On the other hand, I like the feathers very much - whether at the large wooden table in the parlour or in the studio: it just thinks better in a springy way.

The chair with the steel tubes is available for you today with or without armrests. You can choose between black, brown and natural leather.

Now get a real classic in your home. It enhances every room and becomes an eye-catcher for all aesthetes!
