Armchair LCM Plywood from 'Vitra'

An icon, a cult furniture and an absolute design classic. The 'Plywood Group' is another series of chairs and armchairs, indispensable in the history of furniture, from the famous pen of the designer couple Charles & Ray Eames.

In many years of experiments, Charles and Ray searched for new methods to adapt three-dimensionally deformed plywood to the shapes of the human anatomy in the best possible way. The successful result can be seen in the 'Plywood Group', which still has a contemporary effect today and allowed the designs to mature into classics.

The compact armchairs offer good seating comfort thanks to their pleasantly shaped plywood shells and slightly flexible backrest. And that's true even for the models without seat cushions.

To be honest, I have to admit that I'm usually not very fond of cowhide, but in the 'Plywood' chair it somehow harmonizes wonderfully with the organically shaped wood. The leg construction is also fascinating like no other.

Here you'll find the full range of options for the 'Plywood' chair with wooden legs. However, the wooden counterpart is also still in my house.
