The plastic shell of the designer couple Eames is known to be a great quick-change artist: Various bases, a variety of colors and a design without expiration date make it possible.
The 'LAR' base or 'Lounge Height Armchair Rod Base' is, as the name suggests, a base that brings the cozy seat shell to a lower height. This turns the chair into a relaxed armchair. Thanks to the seat cushion, a really comfortable one at that. Incidentally, the steel wire frame also seemed to have been one of the creators' favorites. In the 'Eames House' the structure appeared again and again.
It also makes the dimensions of the 'Armchair' significantly more compact, which makes it ideal for smaller spaces.
