Børge Mogensen was one of the most influential designers who shaped modern Danish design and the founding designer of 'Fredericia'. Taking inspiration from all over the world, he wanted to design everyday things that would last for generations. A piece of furniture should convey calm and modesty, but at the same time have a fine feeling for materials and proportions.
He succeeded in many ways, but especially with the 'Canvas Chair' for the Scandinavian label. This has a sustainable design in which material, form and functionality are balanced. Made of clearly recognizable materials and shapes, it has a canvas seat and backrest suspended between conical pieces of solid oak - a soft counterpart to an angular, almost constructivist solid oak base.
