The idea for the design of the 'Ghost' lamp came to Hamburg designer Andreas Kowalewski at a flea market where he saw an old oil lamp. The result was a luminaire with an opal glass shade for the Danish label Woud.
The lampshade creates the illusion of a white fabric thrown over a light source. A groove pattern running from bottom to top enhances this effect.
The slender metal rod not only supports the lampshade, but also serves as a handle for the lamp.
