In 1971, designer and architect Verner Panton (1926–1998) collaborated with Louis Poulsen to create the Panthella. Panton’s figurative and whimsical design is a reflection of his distinctive personality. The world-renowned Dane continually developed new materials for the colorful and fascinating spaces he created with his appealing designs, without ever compromising on quality or functionality. With its organic form, which reflects the soft light, the Panthella stands out as one of Panton’s most significant design icons. Panton wanted to create a lamp in which not only the shade but also the base serves as a reflector. He combined this idea with the organic design language for which the Danish designer is still known today. With its glare-free light, the Panthella is a prime example of Verner Panton’s brilliant sense for atmospheric lighting.
