The Danish manufacturer 'Hay' is a guarantor of iconic design products that are functional, distinctive, aesthetic and also affordable. Adorning oneself with well-known designer names was never the first priority for Rolf Hay, the namesake and founder.
I particularly like the fact that the creators behind Hay like to take archetypal products and then interpret them in their skillful way in a new and always with that certain something and very modern. With 'Apollo' it was a matter of reinterpreting the well-known and popular, but also somewhat outdated chandelier and wall lighting based on it.
Studio 0405 has succeeded wonderfully in this, in my opinion. They have taken the basic structural features of the archetype and redesigned them with surprising materials and elements. Their creation consists of several hand-blown opal glass shades on curved tubular arms that contrast the handmade, organically shaped shades and the industrial anodized aluminum tubes.
