The passionate interior architect and interior designer Claudia Ludwig, based in London and Zurich, helped an expat family from London to create a real temporary home in the Walchwil project. The focus was on well-being and functioning as a family home - complemented by holistic support for the family as part of the relocation.

High-quality, timeless and modular furniture made from sustainable materials plays a central role in Claudia's work. The collaboration with Mooris and its carefully curated furniture range was therefore a logical consequence.

A different kind of home story - documented by Mooris and his team. ✨

Welcome to Walchwil
Welcome to Walchwil

The house that interior designer Claudia was allowed to furnish for the expat family is located high above Lake Zug in Walchwil. The Mooris crew - aka Lea, Mariya and Jeannette - are initially surprised by the many uphill bends until they finally arrive at the modern detached house.

Even after the first few steps, it becomes clear that this path uphill is no coincidence. The elevated position gives the building, which at first glance appears reserved, its greatest asset - a breathtaking view over Lake Zug. 🌊✨

Even if the November weather doesn't quite cooperate, the large windows already give an idea of how much light flows through the rooms on sunny days. Despite the gray sky, everything feels open and airy - the room gives a sense of space, calm and that quiet feeling of arrival.

The living room is open plan and flows seamlessly into the airy dining room and the spacious kitchen - all with a fantastic view over Lake Zug.

For the dining area, I suggested a flexible table from Bruunmunch , which is compact for everyday use but can be pulled out when people visit. (Claudia Ludwig)

We were particularly taken with the upper floor. In addition to the master bedroom and the bathroom, there is another living room here, which was designed as a retreat for the family with a modern fireplace and a fine lounge feel.

After long days of work and study, this is a place to slow down, breathe deeply and simply be. A place to dream of home - and at the same time to arrive in the here and now, with a view of the Swiss countryside and Lake Zug, which can be seen in all its beauty from the sofa. 🌊✨

(Claudia Ludwig)

The master bedroom is spacious and benefits from plenty of natural light thanks to numerous, albeit somewhat smaller, windows. Claudia Ludwig positioned a large, high box-spring bed in the center of the room as a place where the parents can let themselves go. The dark blue of the sleeping area has a calming and elegant effect, while a light, beautifully natural carpet from the Swiss brand Maana Studios and a large yellow bedspread create a warm, homely atmosphere.

A bedside table with fine wooden slats is enlivened by the classic Swiss lamp Topoled from Baltensweiler . Typical for Claudia: sustainability and a preference for high-quality, regional design play a central role for her.

I also like to use projects like this to introduce my customers to Swiss or German brands that they haven't heard of before. (Claudia Ludwig)

The expat family has two children - one of whom is already attending university. It is therefore very important that he has a retreat that gives him peace and concentration for his studies.

> Here, too, Claudia chooses cult furniture and new classics that look nice and light - and are just as flexible as the family's life.

The Courier desk from Vitra, the classic Rooki office chair and the great String shelf: they all help to focus on the essentials and look irresistibly good at the same time.

And here again: the Siebenschläfer from Nils Holger Moormann - this time as a single bed - with its design charm and reduce-to-the-max allure.

Big Girls Home

Conclusion Conclusion
Conclusion

The Walchwil project was a real success for Claudia Ludwig in collaboration with Mooris - in every respect! You immediately feel that you have arrived: comfortable and homely. Nothing seems provisional or like you're just passing through.

With a few exceptions, the furniture is light, modular and flexible - and yet it feels firmly anchored in the room.

This is how a temporary home works✨
