Sometimes you come across people and places that leave a lasting impression - and that's exactly what happens when you experience Ruth Kramer and her work. With Brücke49 in Vals, the interior designer has created a place that is characterized not only by design, but above all by soul and personality. Now she has designed another refuge in the neighboring house - a retreat that combines tranquility, authenticity and beauty.
For Ruth, a room is more than just a collection of beautiful furniture. "A room must radiate comfort and tranquillity," she says. "Every piece should be chosen with love and it should mean something to you." You can feel this attitude immediately when you enter her rooms. Natural materials and colors create a connection to the surroundings, while personal details such as books, flowers or collections reflect the life and personality of the residents. "It's wonderful when you can feel which person lives there," she says.
When designing her rooms, Ruth takes a pragmatic but sensitive approach. "I love it when I furnish something that really works," she explains. Rooms should not only be beautiful, but also practical. Questions such as "How do I want to sleep?" or "How often do I have friends over?" are just as important to her as aesthetics. Tidiness also plays a central role: "Everything should be easy to tidy up - 'less is more' is a principle that achieves a lot here."
A room that has everything - and shows nothing
The WC, shower, dressing room and storage space are hidden behind the closed wooden wall in Ruth Kramer's retreat. A perfect solution, functional and yet beautifully minimalist. A real masterpiece that proves it: Design can be clever and elegant at the same time.
A home with favorite places
In Ruth's own home in Vals, there are two favorite places that are special to her: her bed and her Papa Bear Chair. "I love my bed because I can open the door in the morning and hear the church and the stream. It's just wonderful with a cup of coffee." The Papa Bear Chair, on the other hand, is a place that gives her a sense of security: "It hugs you and you just feel safe."
"Design is my passion," says Ruth with a smile. Her projects - whether the Brücke49, the tree houses at Blausee or the design of the Traube in Buchs - all bear her signature. She finds her inspiration everywhere: in nature, in everyday life or in the stories of the people she designs for.
> "I like real homes, not show-off places. Good craftsmanship and quality are the most important things for me."
Ruth has a clear answer to the question of how to create a home that radiates warmth and personality:
> "Be yourself. Choose real quality, not quick fixes. Let your life be visible - whether through things you love or hobbies you pursue. Dare to be real and express that in your home."
Ruth Kramer shows us how to create spaces with soul - through simplicity, authenticity and a feel for the little things that make a place special. Her retreat in Vals is an inspiring example of how design can not only be beautiful, but also personal and meaningful.
