I still remember well how my professor projected a slide of this side table on the wall almost reverently during my design studies. Still green behind the ears in terms of design, I only suspected that this had to be about something really big.
Among classics, this is arguably the classic. Its ingeniously proportioned, distinctive shape has made the height-adjustable table one of the most popular design icons of the 20th century.
It is named after the E 1027 'Maison en bord de mer' summer house that Eileen Gray built for herself and Jean Badovici.
The mysterious code name also comes from her: E stands for Eileen, 10 for Jean (J is the 10th letter of the alphabet), 2 for B(adovici) and 7 for G(ray).
The frame of her side table is height adjustable and made of chromed tubular steel or powder coated in black.
You can choose the table top in either clear crystal glass or grey Parsol glass. Or you can complement it with a black lacquered metal plate.
