The Knot Pillow by Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir is a designer pillow with a unique character, whose appeal lies in its sculptural form rather than in patterns. It is made from a knitted tube several meters long, which is tied into a compact knot. Thanks to its striking design, the Knot Pillow belongs to that rare group of products that linger long in the memory. The path to this iconic design, however, began quite differently. When Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir experimented with machine-made knitted tubes about five years ago, she was actually looking for an efficient way to make the legs of a teddy bear instead of crocheting them by hand.
Instead, a knot-shaped pillow emerged. The designer wondered for a long time where exactly the inspiration came from. “As a child, I was in the Girl Scouts,” she explains. “And I was very good at tying knots.”
With its combination of extraordinary design, comfort, and artisanal sophistication, the Knot Pillow remains a timeless home accessory and a distinctive design object to this day.
