The rugs are designed for use in a wide variety of outdoor settings and are highly resistant to moisture, sunlight, mold, and saltwater and pool water. Made from synthetic fibers, the rugs are water-repellent, tear-resistant, and quick-drying. Thanks to these durable and low-maintenance properties, they are also suitable for indoor use. The polypropylene is solution-dyed, which reduces the amount of water, dyes, and energy required during production. Additionally, no additional chemicals are needed to enhance performance, while high colorfastness is guaranteed.
The Mioro Outdoor rug is made from braided polypropylene cords and combines a simple weave structure with the intricate “Leno weave technique”—a newly introduced technique in rug manufacturing.
For the Leno technique, the loom is modified and equipped with special heddles that twist the warp threads. This creates small openings in the rug, arranged in a striped pattern, giving it an airy, textured look. The result is reminiscent of surfaces with varying textures. Designer Margrethe Odgaard describes the Leno weaving technique as a detail that runs throughout Mioro—similar to the striped pattern of a knitted sweater or the cracks in the earth.
As a single-material product, Mioro Outdoor is fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle. The carpet is suitable for moderate to medium use in residential settings as well as for light to moderate use in commercial settings—both indoors and outdoors.
