The rugs are designed for use in a wide variety of outdoor settings and are highly resistant to moisture, sunlight, mold, and seawater and pool water. Made from synthetic fibers, the rugs are water-repellent, tear-resistant, and quick-drying. Thanks to these robust and low-maintenance properties, they are also suitable for indoor use. The polypropylene is solution-dyed, which reduces the amount of water, dyes, and energy required during production. Additionally, no additional chemicals are needed to enhance performance, while high colorfastness is guaranteed.
The Sio Outdoor rug consists of multicolored, braided cords that are sewn together, creating a flat, smooth surface with a natural, vibrant play of colors. The seams form a shaded striped pattern, while an open detail subtly breaks up the texture.
Designer Margrethe Odgaard drew inspiration from the simple, delicate details of the sisal rugs she remembers from her childhood. The design is complemented by a subtle wave element reminiscent of natural surfaces. The name Sio is derived from the Japanese word for “tides” and refers to this wavy, open design element.
Sio Outdoor is lightweight yet durable and is suitable for medium to heavy use in residential settings as well as for moderate to medium use in commercial settings—both indoors and outdoors.
