Classic from 'Thonet': Chair 218

Today it's raining classics galore: the bentwood chairs by 'Thonet' are true design legends! And they can all be in your home very soon.

First produced in 1876, model no. 18 with the distinctive 'hairpin' in the back returns to the 'Thonet' portfolio in a clear and reduced aesthetic as 218 and, by the way, is one of the best-selling models of 'Thonet' production.

The so-called 'export chair' by the Thonet brothers was often sold for use in restaurants and cafés, - especially to South America. 36 chairs, assembled into individual parts, fit into a sea chest: This meant that the chair could be sent on long journeys without any problems and in large numbers.

Now number 218 is being produced again in Frankenberg. And it is stained in a variety of colours.

The seat comes in the typical, filigree cane weave.
