For a long time, they were lost and only available on the limited second-hand market. And although the beautiful vintage models have their charm, I am delighted that they have been available as good as new for some time now: the famous shell chairs by Charles & Ray Eames in authentic fiberglass.The Shell Chairs with their uniquely beautiful, through-dyed, fiberglass-reinforced polyester shell are an eye-catcher in any room and, of course, a great design classic in furniture history.
In close collaboration with the Eames Office, Vitra is now launching the bar stool versions of the Shell Chairs: the Eames Stools, which were previously only available for furnishing larger objects. They are available in two heights and different materials, whereby the high version here is suitable for bar tables and, as mentioned, comes in the iconic fiberglass - and without upholstery.
The base is a modification of the classic four-legged base of the DSX chair and is chrome-plated or black powder-coated. The geometry is adapted to the changed force curves of the higher sitting positions and a footrest ensures comfort and safety. This version is only intended for indoor use.
