I am always surprised where the dear designers draw all their inspiration from. It's not uncommon that you expand your horizons through curious and interesting facts.
It was no different with the Duo side table. For designer Chifen Cheng took formal inspiration from 'vesica piscis'. Now if you're thinking like me - vesica what - then Wikipedia provides us with the explanation: '(...) the intersection of two congruent discs, each centered on the circumference of the other.' In Latin, vesica piscis literally means fish bladder (...)'
Now, if you look at this little piece of furniture from above, you can see this very intersection formed by the two circular surfaces at different heights.
Quite clever and also quite practical. Especially next to my sofa for my magazines, the cup of coffee and the small fine bouquet of flowers.
