Pendant lamp PH Septima by 'Louis Poulsen'

The 'PH Septima' is considered one of Poul Henningsen's most refined pendant lights. When a prototype of the lamp was exhibited for the first time in 1928 at the Danish Museum of Decorative Arts - today the Designmuseum Danmark - the poetic showpiece was very well received by the public.

All seven shades are made of a very delicate but robust Italian borosilicate glass. The clear glass shades have been treated to have alternating clear and frosted wide stripes. They are arranged so that the frosted stripes are each over a clear stripe. This diffuses the light beautifully, while still allowing it to radiate downwards without glare. A beautiful glass globe on top prevents dust and dirt from entering the lamp.

In the 1940s, the production of the highly regarded pendant lamp was discontinued because there were not enough raw materials. In 2020, 'Louis Poulsen' now ensured the return of Poul Henningsen's refined lamp based on the 'PH Septima 5' with a glass crown of seven shades.
