Floor-standing luminaires master the art of indirect lighting for a harmonious ambience like no other type of lamp. The Finnish designer and architect Alvar Aalto also knew this.
The floor lamp A810 has a two-part shade which consists of softly lacquered metal strips. Together they create a striking combination of lines and curves and allow an interesting interplay of direct and indirect light. The collar in polished brass or nickel-plated steel forms a beautiful transition to the elegant black handle, hand-stitched with leather in Finland.
Originally the lamp was designed in 1959 for the National Pension Institute in Helsinki.
