Following “La Cintura di Orione” by Richard Sapper and “Falstaf” by Alessandro Mendini, Alessi commissioned a designer from the new generation with the challenging task of sparking the public’s imagination and exploring the archaic realm of “pottery art.” Stefano Giovannoni, whose style explicitly draws on a poetry of connection, has developed his own interpretation of traditional terracotta pots.
The warmth of familiar aromas in good, large, round pots “with two handles,” as Catullus described them, is reflected here in functional and practical stainless steel. The “Mami” series also includes baking dishes and frying pans made of die-cast aluminum with a nonstick coating, a pasta set and a pressure cooker, as well as a cutlery set and high-quality kitchen knives.
