At least as influential as Oskar Niemeyer is the Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, who sadly passed away in 2021. Da Rocha taught for years at the University of São Paulo and was president of the Brazilian Association of Architects.
His first building, the 'Club Atletico Paulistano' of 1958, became a style-setter for São Paulo's architecture. For the lounge of this building, the Brazilian architect designed the Paulistano chair, which today belongs to the permanent design collection of the 'MoMa'. And soon can be in your living room!
