The new 'Barro' tableware collection for design specialist Hay has taken my fancy. It was created by Portuguese designer Rui Pereira and identifies itself with beautiful proportions and a rolled edge with recognition value. The latter gives the range a sense of stability and increases the ease of use, which I also really appreciate with my family.
The pieces are made in Portugal from durable terracotta and glazed with a range of great high gloss colors. Incidentally, this is where their name 'Barro' comes from - which means 'red clay' in Portuguese. It reflects the designer's admiration for the traditions and versatility of this ancient material.
The handleless design of the cup, combined with its pleasant feel and balanced proportions, gives it a sense of stability that makes it a pleasure to use.
Tip: the different colors give you countless great combinations and look best when mixed together.
