Woven chair '611'

The 611 chair by Alvar Aalto combines a solid birch wood frame with a seat and backrest made of woven linen ribbon.

The fabric not only absorbs the weight of the sitter and reacts to it with comfort, but also lends the simple design an unadulterated lightness. The airy chair was one of Aalto's first modern furniture designs and has been highly regarded and popular since its inception.
