For me, chairs with round backrests and armrests are the most comfortable. They also look cosy and radiate a sense of security. The 'Rival Chair' fits wonderfully into these characteristics, although it otherwise comes across as quite modern and sleek.
Konstantin Grcic has taken a new approach to the wooden chair with this design. The legs are milled from one piece of solid birch, which draws a fluid silhouette. Both the arm and backrest are made from a compression molded birch plywood. The whole thing is topped with a seat cushion.
'Rival' is the first chair from 'Artek' with a swivel function: the upholstered seat, available in a variety of covers and colours, conceals a clever aluminium node that rests in a polypropylene frame, allowing circular movement.
