For almost 200 years, the German company Thonet has been producing a variety of furniture for the home and contract sector. Design classics made of bentwood such as the coffee house chair, tubular steel furniture from the Bauhaus era, including the famous cantilever chair by Mart Stam. Today's new designs are also created in collaboration with renowned architects and designers.
In all his furniture designs, Mart Stam focused on straightforwardness of form, aesthetic economy of construction and the benefits of improved seating comfort.
For the S 43 cantilever chair, he combined the tubular steel frame with molded wooden shells for the seat and backrest, creating an absolute reduction. Thanks to the comfortable swinging effect of the frame, there is no need for upholstery. Its clear, understated shape makes this cantilever chair an exemplary design in the spirit of modernism.
I have this classic for you in natural beech or in black or white.
