When I first heard of the 'single-point chair', I somehow had a milking stool with a single chair leg in mind. In fact, the 'One Point Chair' still has all its legs together.
It's hard to believe that this chair was designed as early as 1951 by Hans Bellmann, who was a courageous counter design to the widespread home style of the fifties. Today it is a milestone in Swiss design history and the highlight of Bellmann's work.
Incidentally, the name is due to the unique fastening with only one screw, which gave the chair its name, and the flexible back of the plywood shell, which bounces pleasantly thanks to a central opening. The opening also functions as a handle. This is particularly practical, as you can easily carry the 'one-point chair' from one room to another. At just 3.8 kilos, it is also extremely light.
