Some versions of the robust Eames Plastic Chairs RE with their organically shaped seat shells made of post-consumer recycled plastic are also particularly suitable for use in public areas with mass seating: the Dining Height Side Chair Stacking Base (DSS) can be stacked and linked together. It can also be fitted with row numbering elements and number clips.
Since January 2024, the seat shells of Vitra's Eames Plastic Chairs have been made from recycled post-consumer plastic. The chairs are now called Eames Plastic Chairs RE. The recycled material comes from the German household recycling collection "Gelber Sack", i.e. primarily from used packaging. The use of this recycled material causes fewer climate-damaging emissions than the previous plastic and consumes significantly less energy.
Due to the composition of the recycled material, the surfaces of the seat shells in various colors have tiny speckles.
