Novel 'Der Termin'

This novel is obscene - and terrific!

Katharina Volckmer has become an international shooting star of a new literature with her debut 'Der Termin'. Written in English, her radical novel takes aim at Germans and their shame.

In a London doctor's office, a young woman from Germany exposes herself to her doctor, Dr. Seligman. Although she can only see the back of his head, she confides her innermost feelings to him: her secret lust, her guilt, and her struggle to find herself. Although she has turned away from her Catholic postwar German family and has lived in London for years, the old ghosts haunt her. In a razor-sharp monologue, she once again detaches herself from her past, but also from her present.

From changing clothes in the bathhouse to the toilet f*ck in the bar, we accompany a young woman who fundamentally frees herself from her shame, her culture and her sexuality.
