Japanese tapas: 'Izakaya' book

The best evenings are the ones when the glasses are never empty from the aperitif to the last drink, the conversation picks up new steam with each plate, and everyone leaves feeling good about having shared more than one great meal. That's Izakaya!

The Japanese pub is synonymous with family hospitality and sharing umami cuisine that is unparalleled outside of Japan - and can be found at Mochi in Vienna.

Opened in 2012 by four friends, the restaurant with its unique style of cuisine has achieved cult status in a very short time. In this book, they reveal for the first time the most popular 'mochi' recipes: fresh ingredients meet the full flavor of soy sauce and sake and are combined into delicious dishes without much effort and served in the sharing principle.

Between the recipes, entertaining information about Japanese food culture is interspersed for conversation. With good food in the circle of friends, the most ubiquitous Japanese gesture appears all by itself: the smile.
