In addition to her office in London, Claudia's place of creative work and development of her ideas is in the middle of Zurich's Kreis 1 district.
Lea, Jeannette and Mariya from Mooris visit the likeable and very passionate designer to find out how she works and what is important to her.
As expected, the studio is cool and stylishly furnished, with industrial-style work tables on trestles, great mood boards and lots of notes and sketches.

Visualization is key Visualization is key
Visualization is key

We find it particularly exciting that Claudia actually does the same thing as us, i.e. design concepts, styling and much more - and that everything revolves around the home for her too.
She is just as visual as we are - and finds the perfect furniture, accessories and details with the help of visualizations and plans. She illustrates these for us on a beautiful mood board.

In addition to the visual concept and design, the feel of a home is very important to Claudia and us at Mooris. Key to this are the right materials - and of course colors.
Claudia relies on high-quality fabrics, the best woods and technically sophisticated plastics - to pamper her discerning customers and herself with only the best.

Living is a feeling - we agree.

Claudia, Mooris - and the Walchwil project
Claudia, Mooris - and the Walchwil project

How did Claudia Ludwig come to our attention? Quite simply through her impressive project in Walchwil, where she transformed a house into a loving "temporary home" for a great expat family - with a trained eye, a fine selection and many pieces of furniture from Mooris.

Claudia's work has fascinated us from the very beginning: her effortless commute between London and Zurich, her uncomplicated but at the same time very focused and perfectionist approach make each of her projects unique.

We wanted to find out more about her and asked Claudia the questions we were most interested in - in an in-depth interview.

You often accompany customers who are new to Switzerland. What are the most important first steps for you to make a house feel like a home straight away?

When you arrive in a new country, it's not just about furniture. It's often the little things that are missing: Towels, kitchen utensils, a drill. I therefore also help my customers in a very practical way with a shopping list for the most important everyday things, with recommendations for good bedding or a craftsman to hang the pictures.
In Walchwil, that was exactly what was crucial.

This support helped to make the house feel like a home very quickly - not only beautiful, but also ready for everyday life.

In this project, you helped a family to settle into a new environment after moving house. How do you manage the balance between function and atmosphere - especially when there is little time?

The house in Walchwil has very clear, modern architecture - lots of glass, few classic walls. That doesn't make furnishing easy. That's why I chose pieces that also look good free-standing in the room - like the curved sofa from Wendelbo.

For the dining area, I suggested a flexible table from Bruunmunch, which is compact for everyday use but can be pulled out when people visit.

The result is a room that works, but also has atmosphere - through materials, light and textile surfaces, such as bouclé fabrics, carpets from Kvadrat, Maana Studio and Sula or upholstered Vitra chairs.

What is important to you when choosing furniture and materials - and how does the collaboration with Mooris.ch support you?

> I pay a lot of attention to longevity - both in terms of design and in everyday life.

Furniture that can be adapted to new rooms is particularly important for families who travel a lot or might move again.

I like working with Mooris.ch because they offer high-quality, well-curated pieces - for example, the guest room bed from Moormann, which is easy to assemble and disassemble

And I also like to use projects like this to introduce my customers to Swiss or German brands that they didn't know about before.

You not only work as an interior designer, but also as a consultant. How do you deal with clients who don't yet know exactly what they want?

Many customers come with completely different issues than "just" design - especially after an international relocation.

That's why I also support them beyond the interior. In Walchwil, for example, I recommended a moving company with international experience, gave tips on where to find good bed linen in Switzerland or a solid craftsman who can also step in at short notice.

That's how trust is built - and you realize that someone is there who thinks of everything.

How important is home to you - especially for people who have just arrived? And what does "settling in" mean to you personally?

A home provides stability - especially in a phase when many things are new.

For me, a home always grows with its occupants. Many of my clients bring existing pieces of furniture or art that mean something to them. I integrate these specifically into the new furnishing concept - because it's personal elements like these that make all the difference.

It is these individual pieces, combined with targeted lighting, natural materials and lots of texture, that create an atmosphere that feels harmonious.

For me, a home should always be a place of retreat - warm, inviting and honest.
