Armchair 'Tank' by Alvar Aalto

This armchair is the dearest Aalto armchair of my dearest one. And who could blame him for this with these beautiful, voluminous and comfortable proportions, which the Finnish architect had already conceived and executed in 1936?

Alvar Aalto created the armchair 400, nicknamed Tank by the way, for the Milan Triennale exhibition, where it was promptly awarded a prize. The chair owes its nickname to its striking wide and unusual armrests. As with a cantilever chair, these provide stability and high seating comfort.
