The 'Bauhaus' chess game

If you only knew what sometimes goes on behind the scenes! How long I have searched for this chess set, for example! Hach, there I could tell you stories....

What makes it so special? It is THE chess set of the 'Bauhaus'!

The chess set appears timeless with its clear lines. Josef Hartwig's chess pieces from 1923 are characterized by reduced forms that deviate from the familiar pieces and use symbols tailored to the pure function of the moves. Dice, cylinders and balls guide you here through the moves to checkmate.

All epochs require developments that give lasting and comprehensive new impulses. At the beginning of the last century, a major driver for further development was the art education program of the legendary 'Bauhaus'. The philosophy of the interlocking of artistic, manufacturing and social dimensions is considered a fundamental turning point towards the 'Industrial Design' of the 20th century.

In cooperation with the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the company Tecta, Naef Spiele AG as authorized manufacturer produces these objects according to the original designs.
