The original table lamp 1227 by 'Anglepoise' is the reissued version of the British design classic from 1935.
The solid, flexible and shapely spring-loaded lamp, - incidentally one of the first of its kind, - has been only slightly modified. It has a three-part frame of painted aluminum with three springs, which is modeled on the human arm and is a feat of mechanical balance. The weighted base provides maximum stability, while the light beam can be optimally directed with the help of the circular rotating shade and pivoting arms.
The design was created by George Cawardine, who until then had been working on designs for the automotive industry, and was intended for use in the workplace. Thanks to its timelessly simple design and flexibility, it has now enjoyed great popularity for decades.
