Table clock 'Spindle

❤️ YOUR GIFT ❤️ Vitra Toolbox with a Vitra purchase >500 CHF

Another model of the 'Wall Clocks' joins them from today: 'Spindle' is the name of the wall clock and it looks like a lively sun.

In 1947, American designer George Nelson was commissioned to create a collection of clocks. He analyzed the use of clocks and, firstly, hypothesized that time was read by the relative position of the hands, and that numbers could therefore be dispensed with. Secondly, he assumed that since the wristwatch had become widespread, clocks were seen much more as decorative elements in the furnishings of a room than before.

On the basis of these considerations, he and his design studio George Nelson Associates developed a first collection of 14 wall clocks and compact table clocks, which were completely new for that time and were launched on the market in 1949.

The only thing the models had in common was the absence of numerals - otherwise their imaginative compositions of shapes, colors and materials could not have been more different.

The 'sunbeams' of 'Spindle' are made of solid walnut wood.

Herewith you get an absolutely stylish timepiece and beautiful wall decoration for your home.
