The Toldbod 290 outdoor lights, introduced in 1982, were the first products in the range. They were such a great success that the Toldbod Glass interior lights soon followed. The philosophy behind Louis Poulsen's original Toldbod pendant luminaire is that the simpler the design, the greater the flexibility.
The Toldbod pendant radiates most of the light downwards. This is in line with Poul Henningsen's philosophy of giving light a shape and illuminating rooms without shining directly into people's eyes.
The matt white lacquered inside of the elliptical shade contributes to an even distribution of light. This makes the luminaire ideal for both targeted and general lighting.
The soft and precise shape of the 'Toldbod' works very well as a single installation. But it also works beautifully in row or group installations.
