During his time at the Bauhaus, Marcel Breuer experimented with the material steel and tubular steel, logically transferring the principles of furniture construction appropriate to the material from wood to this new material. The proximity to the Junkers-Werke in Dessau was of great advantage for this process.
His first designs included the B 9 set tables as well as various shelves and occasional furniture.
In the Bauhaus building in Dessau by Walter Gropius, 'B 9' were used in the canteen. Today, this elegant furniture finds its place in the home.
