I'm delighted to finally be able to introduce you to 'Mikado'. A quiet but very present, super versatile chair by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. An armchair that aims to impress not with its shape, but with its comfort.
Whether at the dining table, in a restaurant or in meeting rooms - this armchair is wonderfully comfortable and can also be used for longer periods of sitting.
This is thanks to an ingenious mechanism that allows the backrest to move very easily. Sitting feels flexible and very natural, which I particularly appreciate - seating comfort through movement, I would call it. The soft upholstery ensures a pleasant sink-in effect - and yet sitting remains active.
What's more, this beautiful chair has a very sustainable design thanks to its modular components. The upholstery is also made without the use of glue. This also means that the fabrics can be removed for cleaning or replacing and that the materials can be recycled again. Slight creases and waves that form due to the adhesive-free construction are a deliberate design feature, not a quality defect.
'Mikado' is not just a chair that comes with or without a backrest, but an entire system with different bases, backrests and different fabric and leather covers in a variety of colors.
This version here comes as a side chair without armrests and a beautiful wooden base frame - the cover is made of high-quality fabric in the color of your choice.
