'T02' Coffee table from Superstudio

In the 1960s, the leading exponents of the New Design, then called radicals, came together and created incredible furniture that had and still has both object and cult character.

The small coffee table T02 was designed by Superstudio for Poltronova in 1968 to complete the Sofo seating project. The table consists of a laminated tabletop resting on four spherical legs and is the same size as the Sofo armchair. This similarity in size cleverly emphasizes the modular component of the system.

Also, the choice of pink as the color of the top makes it an object 'which has a bit of joie de vivre in it', as Adolfo Natalini put it. Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia also chose the table for one of their most famous self-portraits.

Superstudio was founded in Florence in 1967 and is considered one of the most important protagonists of Radical Design. Due to the student and worker protests of the 1960s, a new avant-garde was also forming in architecture and design. The goal was not to design any furniture or houses - it was about fundamental changes.
