Canvas armchair 'Paulistano' / -10 %

At least as influential as Oskar Niemeyer is the Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, who sadly passed away in 2021. Da Rocha taught for years at the University of São Paulo and was president of the Brazilian Association of Architects.

His first building, the 'Club Atletico Paulistano' of 1958, became a style-setter for São Paulo's architecture. For the lounge, he designed the Paulistano chair, which is now part of MoMA's permanent design collection, and may soon be in your living room!

'Paulistano' is a cantilever chair made from a single bent steel tube. The chair is very comfortable despite its enormous lightness and sparingly used material. The seat shell mimics the body, and the cantilever construction comfortably cushions the weight.

If that doesn't invite you to hang out and sip cocktails... And you're welcome to do it indoors as well as outdoors! The fabric is made of weatherproof cotton canvas. But we also have the leather version for you.

For the base you can choose from several variants, but please note that only the white and black lacquered base is suitable for outdoor use.
